I (an unpaid volunteer) check the Visitor Parking areas several times a week and have left thousands of notes annually on vehicle windows since 2021. No one is towed for the first violation. There have only been a half dozen tows in 2023, so the message is getting through. Only two residents displaying blue permits have ever been towed. They both rotated their cars through Visitors and ignored multiple warnings. One threatened to sue me, the other threatened to kill me ;-)
There are two kinds of Parking Permits:
The Green Permits ($100/mo) allow someone (anyone) to park in Visitors Parking all the time. This is a right to park, not an assigned space.
The Blue Permits allow Visitors to park up to three days in a week. Visitors needing to park more than three days in a week, need to request an extension at leslie.berall@wilsonblanchard.com and nneccc270@gmail.com . We have never turned down a request (... except once for a 3 month extension request). If you need more than 2 Blue permits for an event, you can just put a note with your address and e-mail in the window.
Owners can occasionally park in Visitor Parking (with a Blue permit displayed). They are requested to send an e-mail (see above) if they require overnight parking in Visitors.
Many of you live across the street from various Visitor Parking lots and look at them 7/24, so are in a better place to observe overuse. As Deputy "Visitor Parking' Officers, I need you to need you to point out repeat offenders (to the e-mails above). A common violation, (that is hard for us to detect) is people with more cars than personal parking spaces who rotate their cars through Visitor Parking to avoid detection. Please send a photo of the licence plate(s) and the Visitor Parking permit #. Multiple (owner) cars from the same address are considered a single car for the purposes of visitor parking enforcement; if they have not asked for an exception. People displaying Blue Parking Permits, who violate the rules, will be warned first and then may be subject to towing.
The whole objective is to make sure that there is ample Visitor Parking available to legitimate Visitors (and occasional residents). You can help make sure that space is available, by reporting serious & repeat violators.
